This guide will assist you with discovering important library resources when do reseaerch for your class, Beginning Photography.
Research Checklist
Think about your topic. Brainstorm with yourself! What are some possible subject terms or keywords you could use to search for resources about your topic? Try them. Review your results. Are you finding what you need?
Here is a basic check-list of "things to do" when conducting research:
- Search USF Libraries CatalogLook here for books, journals, media and other materials to identify if the library has materials about your topic.
- Search Art databasesIdentify and search appropriate Art & Art History databases for your topic.
- Search WorldCatSearch WorldCat to identify additional resources owned by other libraries that may be useful for your research.
- Interlibrary Loan (ILL)Get materials from other libraries that we don't have in the USF library collection.
- Go to the Writing CenterThe Writing Center offers assistance to any student who wants to improve his or her writing skills. It is a place for writers of all skill levels to take chances, ask questions, and further develop their writing abilities.
Searching Databases - Using Boolean Logic

AND limits your search. All words or phrases used will be included in your results.

OR expands your search. Use it to include synonyms, related words or spelling variations.

NOT eliminates subjects you do not want in your results.
