Welcome to the Library Guide for Your Music Senior Seminar

This guide will assist you with discovering important library resources and conducting research for your class.

Research Check-List

Think about your topic.  Brainstorm with yourself!  What are some possible subject terms you could use to search for resources about your topic?  Try them.  Review your results.  Are you finding what you need?

Here is a basic check-list of "things to do" when conducting research:

  • Obtain a RefWorks account
    Obtain a RefWorks account so that you can manage your citation information for your research project. Access tutorials to learn more about RefWorks.
  • Search USF Libraries Catalog
    Look here for books, journals, media and other materials the library may have about your topic.
  • Search the Music databases
    Identify and search appropriate Music databases for your topic.
  • Search WorldCat
    Search WorldCat to identify additional resources owned by other libraries that may be useful for your research.
  • Go to the Writing Center
    The Writing Center offers assistance to any student who wants to improve his or her writing skills. It is a place for writers of all skill levels to take chances, ask questions, and further develop their writing abilities.
