COVID-19 USF Health Libraries Information

  • Is the library open?

Shimberg Library & Florida Blue Health Knowledge Exchange's doors are closed but our services are still available!

  • Is the 24/7 Space open?

No, the 24/7 space is not open at this time.

  • Can I still meet with a librarian?

Yes! Submit quick questions through Ask-a-Librarian. For help with a research question or getting library resources set up for your class you're teaching, schedule an online appointment.

  • Is the library still teaching classes?

Yes! Our classes have moved online to Teams. The link will be sent to you when you register for the course. Watch out for emails to the bulletin or check the calendar for upcoming classes on Searching, Endnote, and more!

  • Can I donate books, journals, or other physical items to the library?

Physical material donations are not being accepted at this time.

  • Can I check out a laptop?

We have a limited number of laptops for extended loan (until May 12, 2020). While supplies last, USF Health Students may use this form to reserve a time to pick up a laptop from the south entrance of the Shimberg Health Sciences Library.

Please do not come to the library until you have received a confirmation email with detailed instructions. Appointments must be requested at least one hour before your desired appointment time to allow us to prepare for your arrival.

  • I have items checked out from the library. Can I renew them?

Items with earlier due dates have already been extended with a new due date of 5/12/20. This includes laptops and UBorrow items. Contact if you have further questions.​

  • I need a book or an article, but it is not available online. What do I do? 
We can mail you a book if it is available at one of the USF Libraries, and articles can be obtain via interlibrary loan (or scanned from our print collection. Place a book or article request using the ILLiad system. (For help, watch this short video tutorial.) Questions about interlibrary loan? Email us at

Access USF Health Libraries Resources Remotely
  1. Go to the USF Health Libraries webpage or to A-Z Health Resources (also accessible from homepage via icon)
  2. Click on the resource you want to use
  3. A login screen should open up. Sign in using your NetID and NetID password to access resources

     For users with an address ONLY:

  1. IF you only have an email address which contains, enter your NetID username followed by and NetID password.
  2. If you have not previously set up account recovery, this will open an account recovery page. 
  3. You will be asked to fill in your phone number, an alternate email address, and the answers to security questions to use in the event that you forget your account password.
  4. You will now be able to login using the instructions above.
