The initial release of a "new" RefWorks platform became available on January 18, 2016. The current (legacy) RefWorks platform is unaffected: new accounts may be created and existing RefWorks accounts remain unchanged. The new RefWorks is expected to receive updates throughout 2016 which will add current (legacy) RefWorks features now lacking in the new RefWorks, i.e. ability to attach image files, ability to attach multiple files to a record, ability to display the interface in non-English languages, etc. While the legacy RefWorks platform will continue to be available, it will no longer be updated.
To explore the new RefWorks, use your Stanford email to create your new RefWorks login. You will have the option to import references from a legacy RefWorks account, both during the new account set-up as well as anytime from within the new account. Importing references into the new platform will not affect your current (legacy) RefWorks account.
Write N Cite for Google Docs!
The New RefWorks includes a plug in for Google Docs. When you download the plug in for WNC using the New Refworks, you can choose to add it to either Word, Google Docs or both!
Share References on Social Media Sites
In the Organize & Share Folders area, you can now share a folder or your entire RefWorks database with over 300 social media sites including Facebook and Twitter. Once you’ve set up your sharing options and created the sharing URL, simply mouse over the share icon for your specific folder on the Organize & Share Folders page and you’ll see icons for Facebook, Twitter and more.
