Using Secondary Sources

Use news, magazine and journal databases to find as much information as you can on your policy or piece of legislation. Articles may also help you determine legislative intent. For example, if a bill was introduced as a result of an event or events (e.g. Megan’s law, campus open carry) look for articles that make reference to the legislation. They also provide details (e.g. bill number, name of the Act) that may be helpful when searching legislative and government databases
