A-Z Database List

Grey Literature

Literature that is unpublished or published in sources that are not typically included in bibliographic databases.

What is Grey Literature?

Grey Literature is a field in library and Information science that deals with the production, distribution, and access to multiple document types produced on all levels of government, academics, business, and organization in electronic and print formats not controlled by commercial publishing i.e. where publishing is not the primary activity of the producing body.

In this guide we have compiled health sciences focused grey literature resources. Our purpose is to direct you to literature that might otherwise be lost because it is published in other countries or not indexed in our commonly used tools such as PubMed, CINAHL, Web of Science, etc. Please note this is only a partial compendium. There are many more Grey literature databases and providers. We will update this guide as we uncover them.

Grey Literature

Find abstracts and presented papers at conferences that may never see the light of day beyond the presentation at the conference.

Regional Indices

Complete searches should include these regional indices. Much of the literature in these indices is not indexed in the standard health literature databases such as MEDLINE, CINAHL, etc.

These are just a few of the registers that may be overlooked in searches. Google drug companies by name to check for additional registries.
