Find Journal Articles

Search the Library Catalog by ARTICLE

  1. Copy/paste the article title in quotes into the library catalog and search by article. HINT: If you are seeing too many results, use Advanced Search to add additional parameters such as the first author's last name.
  2. Click on the article record
  3. If the article is available online, look under the Full Text Availability and click on the link.  HINT: Make sure to check the dates to ensure that the range covers the article you are looking for. You may need to try several sources
  4. Look for download or the pdf image on the page
  5. Download and save the article to your device
  6. In some cases, the article may not show up or the direct links may not work. If this is the case, try searching for the Journal instead.

Search the Library Catalog by JOURNAL

  1. Enter the full journal title (not the abbreviation) into the library catalog and search. HINT: If you are getting too many results to sort through, click on Advanced Search and add additional parameters, such as Material Type Journals and/or the ISSN number for the journal.
  2. Click on the journal record
  3. If the journal is available online, look under the Full Text Availability and click on the link. HINT: Make sure to check the dates to ensure that the range covers the article you are looking for.
  4. Typically the most recent issue will be shown on the page. Look for previous issues (often along the left-hand side of the page, sorted by date most recent to least recent).
  5. Find the volume/issue you need and click on that
  6. The articles are usually displayed by page order so scroll down the page(s) or use CTRL+f to find the article
  7. Look for download or the pdf image on the page
  8. Download and save the article to your device
  9. If the journal is not available online, look to see if the library has the article available in print for the volume and issue you need.
  10. Go to the library location where the journal is kept and create a scan/copy of the article.
  11. You can also request the article be scanned for you by the library staff by filling out an article request using the Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery form. There may be a fee for this service for students who live in the Tampa area.

Request the Article through Interlibrary Loan

If the journal article is not available in the USF Libraries collection, use the Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery tool to request the article
