Research Interests

Theresa's research interests explore the intersections between information literacy with data and digital literacies. Theresa’s recent research examining the data practices of students conducting undergraduate research will be published in the May 2022 issue of College & Research Libraries. Personal Narrative

Theresa Burress is an Associate Librarian and Assistant Director of the Research & Instruction Department at the University of South Florida’s St. Petersburg campus. She provides research consultations and library instruction for students and faculty in Biology, Environmental Science, and Geospatial Programs. From 2014-2017, she worked as the Humanities Librarian at New College of Florida. Before becoming an academic librarian, Theresa spent more than a decade as Science Librarian for the U.S. Geological Survey’s St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center, where she supported scientific research, scholarly publication, and data-related initiatives. From 2012-2019, Theresa also co-chaired the St. Petersburg Science Festival, an annual community celebration on the USF St. Petersburg campus where thousands of families explore the wonders of hands-on STEAM and learn about cutting edge science research that is happening across Tampa Bay and beyond.
