Tips for searching the Web

These tips can help you find more relevant information from trusted sources when using Google and other search engines.

  1. Use quotation marks around phrases - "health disparities" instead of health disparities
  2. Add the 'filetype:' search  to find reports and white papers - filetype:pdf
  3. Add the 'site:' to find information at specific web sites or domains:
    1. to find information at intergovernmental organizations
    2. - to find information at a specific web site (like the U.S. Department of Health & Human Service)
