Academic Writer is APA's authoritative solution offering you a complete digital environment for teaching, learning, and writing academic papers.

LEARN: Use the Learning Center to find quick guides and tutorials to help you get started and refine your research and writing. 

REFERENCE: Use the Reference Center to find tools to assist you with building and managing a reference library.

WRITE: Use the Writing Center to select an APA Style paper template, collaborate with peers and reviewers, and check your work.

What is Academic Writer?

Academic Writer, formerly APA Style CENTRAL® is a web-based application providing interactive tools to help students and faculty learn and apply APA Style®. It features point-of-need quick guides and video tutorials.  All of the content from the APA Publication Manual is included in Academic Writer .  The platform includes sample materials (references, papers, tables, and figures), self-quizzes, and tests that can assist in the teaching of APA Style®. 

Accessing Academic Writer

Academic Writer, formerly APA Style Central, requires that all USF students, staff, and faculty use their USF email address when creating a new account.

1. At the top right of the Academic Writer website, select "Welcome."

2. Use the drop down box to select Log In.

3. Select "Create an Account."

4. Use your USF email and choose a password. 

Note: You must be logged into the library with your USF Net ID and logged into your Academic Writer account to to use all the features of the program. 

I already have an account in APA Style Central

If you had an account in APA Style Central, your work will be saved, but it will now be accessed via Academic Writer.

Use your APA Style Central Login and Password to access your account in Academic Writer.
