• EVALUATE the information you found and determine if it is what you need.
• USE information properly.  Know when and how to cite what you used.
• ETHICAL/LEGAL is to give credit to what you use and avoid plagiarism.

Think about your topic. What are some possible subject terms you could use to search for resources about your topic? Search & see what you find. You may have to reformulate your research question. 
Here is a basic check-list of "things to do" when conducting research:

• USF Writing Studio

  The Writing Studio encourages students to engage in writing as both a process and a recursive practice through brainstorming and inquiry of their work.

• Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

  Request books, articles, and document delivery through the USF Libraries InterLibrary Loan (ILL) services.

• USF Libraries Catalog

  Books, media, newspapers, journals, and more available at the USF Libraries.

• WorldCat

  Worldwide catalog that allows you to identify resources not available at USF, discover where they are located, and request a copy for use at USF.

• Citing Sources

  A collection of resources to help you learn and identify different citations formats and management systems.
