The department’s mapping and spatial data library are managed through Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Several tools and websites let you view and create maps, perform analysis and download our spatial data.
Provides discoverability and facilitates access to geospatial resources. The resources include GIS datasets, web services, and digitized historical maps. The geoportal's records have been aggregated from repositories located in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. This site is solely an aggregator and does not host any data.
GIS mapping files contain geographical information, which are spatial data encoded into a file format. TIGER stands for the Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing system and represents the U.S. Census Bureau's geographic spatial data.
The GIS Resource webpage is part of the Center for Digital Heritage and Geospatial Information (CDHGI) and the GIS Alliance of the University of South Florida Libraries. The CDHGI and GIS Alliance support the use of GIS by USF students, faculty, and staff. This website contains information relating to available data sources, training, and software.
